Web Site Creator
I purchased a software package called "Total Web Site Creator" from Fry's electronics, for $14.99. I will try and create a web page from scratch called http://wscreator.online-churches.org. The box claims the package includes:
3 in 1.
The perfect Website Creator - to design dynamic, multi-page websites complete with text, graphics and animation.
No HTML, graphic design or editing knowledge is required (sounds too good to be true!)
Premium Webstore Builder
Professional Website promoter.
Installation was straight forward. The installer actually comes up as "Coffeecup VisualSite Designer.
Requires Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP with 330 MB of hard drive space. Pentium 300 processor or better,. 64 MB of RAM. I am installing it on a Windows 2000 machine. Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher.
I got a Windows error message, and a screen saying the software was installed okay.
I tried to "Register Online" on got an error connecting to web page.
I try to open "Home Page Creator."
The program tells me I need at least 24 bit colors (I thought I had 256 colors). A check shows I have 256 colors set, and 1280 X 1024 pixels set. I reset the adapter to True 24 bit color.
This time VisualSite Designer opens up. I can create a New Homepage, Open a Home Page, or Create a New Homepage on a Template.
I will choose the plain New Home Page.
I choose a name "test1." I leave the rest of the settings at default.
Click OK
Page 1 comes up.
I create a text box, and insert a barber pole. Pretty easy so far.
I drag the barber pole and move it to the left corner.
I add some graphics, and text and another animation.
I press "send" and am told that I need to save the page. I save it as index.htm.
I press send again, and am prompted to add information about my ISP.
I put in my ftp server wscreator.online-churches.org
I put in my login ID and password
I leave my www server box empty
I click OK.
The web page was successfully uploaded to the site.
For $15, this utility is a bargain and will work to update your free web page via FTP! The package is currently available on http://www.outpost.com for $15 as well.
